An exciting opportunity has opened for an Engineering Manager to lead the Engineering function, ensuring high service levels, on-time delivery, and complete customer satisfaction across all manufacturing and commercial commitments for major OEMs. This role is dedicated to driving continual improvement, fostering sustainable and measurable change, and enhancing efficiency by eliminating waste, ultimately increasing customer satisfaction and profitability. The Engineering Manager will oversee business processes and procedures, ensuring they align with current needs and future growth strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for evaluating the engineering function and optimising team alignment to meet company targets and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Management of the Engineering Team – either via the Business Units or as an individual function – following a strategic review of the engineering structure.
  • Take ownership of the engineering processes and procedures documentation and review to ensure this meets the needs of the business properly aligning with the business systems.
  • Develop a process for the continuous improvement of the documentation and take ownership of revision control.
  • Ensure the engineering focus is on delivering right-first-time documentation to production.
  • Responsible for the New Product Introduction process and ensuring that new products are successfully onboarded as such that they can be classified as “Green” jobs.
  • Ensure engineering is properly supporting production through builds by taking cradle-to-grave ownership of new products being launched in the factory.
  • Analyse quotes to actual times and suggest ways to optimise processes to improve quality and time targets whilst ensuring safe manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for the Technology roadmap for the business and working with stakeholders to ensure this meets the current and future needs of the business.
  • Responsible for robotics and automation strategy.
  • Develop training plans for the current engineering team.

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Process information to enable the generation of quotations for assembly of IPC610 class 3 electronic assemblies.
  • Produce work instructions through the AEGIS MES system and develop an understanding of the system to fully utilise the MES systems tools to improve production processes
  • Produce accurate BOM’s from customer’s documentation to allow for accurate and timely materials and assembly costings
  • Fully utilise BOM Management software to provide accurate Component data and produce customer-required reports on matters such as RoHS, Conflict Minerals, Lifecycle, Obsolescence, and Counterfeit risk as requested.
  • Provide support to customers during site visits and conference calls ensuring all information provided is accurate and up-to-date
  • Carry out product configuration through ECN and concession management and demonstrate ownership for implementation and control of these
  • Liaise with other departments on bespoke customer requirements
  • Ensure quality principles and standards can be applied and are adhered to throughout the manufacturing process
  • Institute and maintain continuous improvement programmes in every aspect of engineering
  • Input on the specification of all process consumables used throughout the company

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electronic components and manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Experienced in using ERP systems and databases.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience in PCBA modifications and inspection.
  • Supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • Problem-solving mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of EPICOR is advantageous.
