This leading provider of aviation interconnect solutions is looking for a highly driven and technically skilled Sales Engineer to oversee and expand its global Aviation Interconnect Product portfolio. This role focuses on building and maintaining strong relationships with airports, airlines, ground-handling companies, OEMs, and distributors worldwide. The Sales Engineer will play a key role in promoting and supporting critical interconnect products that facilitate reliable aircraft ground power connections, ensuring seamless operation for Airbus, Boeing, and other aircraft at airbridges and satellite docks. Additionally, the position includes supporting small aircraft battery power solutions, contributing to the advancement of emerging technologies and sustainable aviation. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a proactive sales mindset, and a passion for aviation innovation, with opportunities for global travel and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Drive the growth of aviation interconnect product sales across airport operators, airlines, ground service providers, aircraft OEMs, and MROs.
- Oversee and develop a global distributor and agent network, providing both technical and commercial support to maximize sales performance.
- Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities in both existing and emerging markets.
- Cultivate strong client relationships, ensuring high customer satisfaction and long-term retention.
- Conduct regular customer visits and represent the company at key industry trade shows and exhibitions.
Technical Expertise & Product Innovation
- Offer technical guidance to customers, assisting with product selection, specification, and application support.
- Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to incorporate customer feedback, market insights, and new product demands.
- Support the launch and integration of new USB, auxiliary power, and aircraft battery solutions, aligning with European and international aviation standards.
- Deliver technical presentations and training sessions for customers, distributors, and internal teams.
Project & Contract Management
- Work closely with project teams to oversee large-scale airport installations and retrofit programs, ensuring all customer requirements and specifications are met.
- Assist in contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with aviation industry standards and airport authority regulations.
- Support the bid and proposal process, collaborating with commercial teams on pricing, contract terms, and service agreements.
Market & Competitive Insights
- Monitor and analyse market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments within the aviation ground power and aircraft battery sectors.
- Identify growth opportunities and potential risks, providing strategic recommendations to the management team.
Requirements
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven expertise in technical sales, sales engineering, or business development, ideally within the aviation, aerospace, or industrial interconnect sectors.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft ground power systems, auxiliary power units (APUs), and interconnect technologies.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing global accounts and distributor/agent networks, ensuring strong commercial performance.
- Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to travel internationally for client meetings, airport visits, and industry trade shows.
Qualifications:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Engineering, Aviation Technology, or Business with a technical focus (preferred).
- Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with aviation auxiliary power systems, particularly connections used for Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
- Understanding of aviation MRO, airport infrastructure, and ground service operations.
- Familiarity with small aircraft battery systems and portable power products.
- Technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering.
