This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking business shaping the future of rail infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and implement a focused business development strategy targeting rail rolling stock and maintenance operations across the North UK.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering, maintenance, procurement, and project teams within major operators such as Train Operating Companies.
  • Offer expert technical support on the design, selection, and integration of electrical and electronic systems for both new build and retrofit rail projects.
  • Work closely with internal engineering and product development teams to ensure solutions align with customer-specific requirements.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within maintenance frameworks, upgrade programmes, and system enhancements.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the rail supply chain, including procurement processes, compliance requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations, proposals, and quotations to win and retain business.
  • Track market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to help shape ongoing commercial strategy and product development focus.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in business development, technical sales, or applications engineering within the rail industry, ideally with a focus on rolling stock.
  • Solid technical understanding of electrical and electronic systems used in modern rail environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of the rail supply chain, procurement cycles, and maintenance frameworks, particularly within London Underground and Southern UK operators.
  • Confident engaging with engineering and technical teams, with the ability to interpret complex requirements and present effective solutions.
  • Self-driven and target-oriented, with the ability to operate independently in a field-based capacity.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
