We’re looking for an experienced Area Sales Manager with a strong background in the electronic components industry to take ownership of an established customer base while driving new business growth across their territory.

This is a commercially focused role for someone who enjoys being in front of customers, developing strategic accounts and uncovering new design-in and revenue opportunities. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your territory, build long-term customer relationships and utilise the wider Group’s product portfolio and resources to maximise opportunities.

You’ll be joining a business that can offer customers far more than simply component supply, giving you a strong platform to develop accounts, win new business and make a genuine commercial impact.

If you have a proven track record selling electronic components, understand how to develop accounts strategically, and still enjoy the challenge of winning new business, this could be an excellent next step.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a profitable portfolio of customer accounts, building a strong understanding of their business, applications and commercial requirements.
  • Identify and drive new design-in opportunities across the account base, utilising the full product portfolio and resources available across the Group.
  • Create and execute strategic account plans to maximise revenue, gross profit and long-term growth.
  • Proactively identify, qualify and develop new sales opportunities from initial enquiry through to securing orders.
  • Take commercial ownership of customer relationships, account development and new business opportunities within the territory.
  • Achieve or exceed agreed sales and gross profit targets.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the Group’s presence within existing accounts through additional products, services and solutions.
  • Deliver a consistently high level of customer service and build strong, long-term commercial relationships.
  • Attend and lead customer meetings, account reviews and QBRs, presenting opportunities, performance and development plans where required.
  • Monitor account performance and regularly report on development strategies, opportunities and progress.
  • Manage customer-specific inventory requirements in line with company expectations.
  • Support product sourcing and procurement in accordance with customer requirements and company guidelines.
  • Work closely with internal teams to resolve customer, supplier, commercial and financial matters efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and timely sales administration, CRM/ERP records and account information.
  • Monitor and report on customer requirements, market developments, emerging applications and industry trends.
  • Gather relevant competitor and market intelligence to support commercial decision-making.
  • Represent the business at relevant industry events, exhibitions and networking opportunities when required.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times and operate in accordance with its values, standards and ethical approach.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of the electronics industry, with a good understanding of electronic components, markets and applications.
  • A proven track record in electronic component sales, including both new business development and account management.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account plans to grow revenue and maximise opportunities.
  • The ability to identify and develop new customers, markets, applications and design-in opportunities.
  • A commercially focused approach, with the ability to prioritise the right opportunities and successfully convert them into business.
  • A highly motivated, proactive and results-driven approach with a genuine desire to succeed.
  • Experience or a good understanding of VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) and other value-added supply solutions.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to build, develop and maintain long-term customer relationships at multiple levels.
  • Experience working towards sales and gross profit targets, with a strong understanding of commercial performance.
  • Knowledge or experience of component sourcing and procurement.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively resolve commercial and supply-related challenges.
  • Good IT skills, including experience using CRM and ERP systems, with an understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer and sales data.
