We’re looking for a Systems Engineer with a strong background in embedded systems to play a key role in the development of specialist, application-specific products and solutions.

Sitting at the heart of the engineering process, you’ll take customer and user requirements and help translate them into clearly defined technical requirements across firmware, electronics and mechanical hardware. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the full development lifecycle, from initial system architecture and requirements capture through to integration, testing and validation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys looking at the complete system rather than one individual discipline, solving complex technical challenges and helping bring reliable, efficient and robust products from concept through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and architecture of embedded systems, ensuring solutions meet requirements for performance, scalability, reliability and power efficiency.
  • Translate system-level requirements into clearly defined requirements for firmware, electronic hardware and mechanical development.
  • Work with Product Management, Sales and other key stakeholders to understand, clarify and agree technical requirements before communicating them effectively to the project team.
  • Oversee the integration of hardware and software, ensuring all elements of the system operate effectively together.
  • Develop and execute test and validation plans to ensure systems meet agreed specifications, performance and reliability requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with software, firmware, electronics and mechanical engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Identify and help resolve system-level technical challenges during development, integration and testing.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation covering system requirements, architecture, design decisions, testing and functionality.
  • Support projects from initial requirements and system definition through to integration, validation and final delivery.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Strong programming skills.
  • A good understanding of embedded systems and modern operating system development techniques.
  • Knowledge of IP protocols, communication interfaces and hardware interfaces.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software.
  • Practical experience using debugging tools and techniques within embedded hardware and software environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills with a structured and methodical approach to engineering problems.
