The Digital Trading Manager role offers an exciting opportunity to drive online sales and optimize performance for European markets, with a focus on Germany and the UK. You’ll be responsible for developing commercially driven strategies across various digital channels, including e-commerce, 3rd party marketplaces, and digital marketing. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, you’ll work to ensure product visibility, compelling campaigns, and seamless site operations, all while monitoring key performance metrics to implement data-driven improvements.

This role demands a strategic thinker with a robust understanding of digital retail, merchandising, and user experience. You’ll oversee third-party e-commerce platforms, optimize listings, and explore growth opportunities to maximize sales. Reporting directly to the VP of Europe, you’ll work closely with the leadership team to align digital efforts with broader business objectives, making this position key to achieving revenue and operational excellence across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Sales and Trade Planning:

  • Work closely with Buying Managers to create category sales and trade plans.
  • Develop strategies to maximize revenue across digital channels including campaign launch and lead strategies.
  • Monitor product performance and adjust trading strategies accordingly.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) and operating metrics. Implement improvements based on data-driven insights

 

3rd Party E-Commerce

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive 3rd party e-commerce strategy to achieve revenue and profitability targets and identifying new growth opportunities.
  • Develop relationships and negotiate commercial terms with new 3rd party platforms to drive traffic.
  • Ensure optimal product visibility, search rankings, and customer experience across all platforms
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of 3rd party e-commerce channels, including product listings, pricing, promotions, and inventory management
  • Ensure all 3rd party e-commerce operations comply with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to 3rd party platform operations.

 

Data-Driven Approach:

  • Analyse key metrics, including sales, traffic, average order value (AOV), and
    conversion rates.
  • Use data insights to optimize product placement, pricing, and promotions.
    Identify trends and opportunities for growth.

 

E-Commerce Optimisation:

  • Collaborate agencies to ensure effective SEO and PPC deliverables.
  • Implement merchandising strategies that enhance user experience and drive
  • A/B test different approaches to improve performance.

 

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with inventory teams.
  • Ensure timely replenishment and manage stock-outs.
  • Optimise inventory turnover.

 

Promotions and Campaigns:

  • Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns (e.g., seasonal promotions, flash
    sales).
  • Coordinate with Marketing teams to align messaging and timing.
  • Evaluate campaign effectiveness.

 

User Experience (UX):

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to enhance the online shopping experience.
  • Optimise navigation, search functionality, and product pages.
  • Ensure a seamless checkout process.

 

Competitor Analysis:

  • Keep an eye on industry trends and competitors.
  • Benchmark against best practices and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in the market.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work with Finance teams to manage budgets and financial targets.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams for website enhancements.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in digital trading, e-commerce, or online retail.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data tools (Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
  • Familiarity with SEO, SEM, and digital advertising.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of eCommerce experience, with at least 5 years in a role.
  • 3rd Party online platform experience highly preferred Proven track record in driving eCommerce sales and marketing strategies.
  • Experience in demand planning, sensing, and pricing Strong understanding of online merchandising and user experience best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Candidate must have keen business acumen, advanced online customer analytical skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and team development skills.
