As the Engineering Lead, you will oversee the engineering teams at multiple sites, spearheading the development and execution of the engineering strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders. You will take charge of planning and delivering development programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and management for the engineering team.
  • Collaborate with Product Line Management (PLM) to develop a technology strategy that aligns with growth targets, including intellectual property protection.
  • Assess engineering capability requirements and create a team structure and plan to effectively implement the strategy.
  • Oversee development programs from conception through to production introduction.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, and communications to meet expectations and targets.
  • Address design risks using appropriate tools such as FMEA and FTA.
  • Supervise engineering designs, specifications, and control processes.
  • Own the process design and implementation for all engineering and design processes and procedures.
  • Oversee test engineering, including hardware and software design and support.
  • Assist in quality investigations with engineering analyses and reports.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain team to identify and approve capable suppliers.
  • Develop skills and training plans to ensure the engineering team maintains necessary competencies.
  • Incorporate EHS considerations and design-for-manufacture principles in product development and testing specifications.
  • Ensure that the quality of engineering activities is a primary focus for the team, aligning with customer expectations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through process control, measurement, and improvement initiatives.
  • Complete system transactions accurately and on time per reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to all quality policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Assist with operations as needed to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all safety procedures and equipment operation guidelines.
  • Follow company protocols regarding timekeeping, absence reporting, record-keeping, and conduct.
  • Observe environmental precautions and procedures, such as cleanroom standards, as required.
  • Participate in meetings and workgroups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and stay informed about new products, requirements, SOPs, working practices, and policies.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned, including covering or deputizing for other managers or the General Manager when necessary.

 

Key Deliverables

  • Deliver development projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Establish and maintain the product/technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Control product costs effectively.
  • Adhere to required standards (AS9100, BS9450, MIL Std, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

 

Key Metrics

  • Projects: On-time delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Customer satisfaction: On-Time Delivery (OTD), quality, and cost metrics.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven leadership in guiding engineering teams through change.
  • Experience in electronics hardware, software, and control system design.
  • Knowledge of hybrid design and/or mixed-signal test design is a plus.
  • Proficient in program management for development projects.
  • Familiarity with engineering processes (NPI, Configuration Management, etc.).
  • Experience in the aerospace and defense sectors (AS9100, MIL Std, etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • Confident in presenting to both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organization and planning capabilities.
  • Proficient in business software tools, including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ERP systems.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education

  • Degree in electrical, electronic, or systems engineering.
  • A postgraduate qualification (MBA or Master’s) is beneficial.
