The Quality Engineer will drive product and process compliance, ensuring alignment with customer and industry standards, while maintaining the company’s quality management system and AS9100 documentation. As an integral part of the UK quality team, they will actively enhance operational performance by deploying Lean Six Sigma (LSS) techniques to optimize assembly and test processes, ultimately improving efficiency and output.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective communication of customer requirements to operations and testing teams.
  • Support ongoing ERP system implementation to ensure production routers appropriately capture
    process requirements and details.
  • Lead quality meetings to facilitate regular information sharing, decision-making, and continuedeffective Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by preventing quality issues and promptly addressing any that arise.
  • Collaborate with process engineering in root cause analysis to improve yield and implement process controls with updated documentation.
  • Use quality management software to strengthen quality processes and tracking.
  • Gain a deep understanding of production processes to lead the implementation of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practices.
  • Drive process improvements to help achieve necessary industry certifications.
  • Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions for production-related issues.
  • Promote quality awareness throughout the organization.
  • Update and draft procedures to integrate LSS initiatives into the broader Quality Systems.
  • Conduct process audits to support the Quality Management System.
  • Develop and deliver training for both administrative and factory personnel.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and other departments as needed.
  • Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) in compliance with AS9102 standards.
  • Prepare customer data packages when required.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with key business partners, such as Operations, Sales, and Process Engineering.
  • Actively contribute to team efforts to achieve both departmental and company goals.
  • Communicate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
  • Follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Preferred experience in aerospace, defense, microelectronics, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to teach, coach, and mentor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates high levels of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and quickly earn the trust and confidence of key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a talent for negotiation and influencing others.
  • Analytical thinker with creative problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively, and working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, lean environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience, with a Green Belt certification preferred.
  • Preferred experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of MIL-Specs/Standards is an advantage.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years (5 years preferable) of technical experience in Manufacturing Quality or similar
    environment/sector.
